He was predeceased by: his parents, Warren Poynter and Nora Dees Poynter; his wife Melinda Kate Poynter; and his brothers, Warren "Razz" Virgil Poynter and Raymond Wendall Poynter.
He is survived by: his children, Thomas "Tommy" Laney Poynter, Jr., Tammy Renay Boggs (Nathan), Joshua Ramsey (Tasha), Jessica Stallsworth (Aaron), Cassandra Sparkman of Somerset, KY and Mourine Smith (Jordan); his grandchildren, Felica Doan, Michael, Megan Yates, Derrick, Billy Boggs, Kelsey, Logan Jett, Kimhari, Jackson, Xavier, Maryanna, Kayti Stallsworth, Jace, Adley, Hayden Ramsey, Ashlee, Sophia Smith, Jaydin and Shania "Nikki" Sparkman; his great grandchildren, Alana, Elijah, Teddy Doan, Dustin, Brooklynne and Asa Yates; and his siblings, Douglas Poynter of Berea, KY, Kevin Poynter (Debbie), JoAnn Croucher of Mt. Vernon, KY, Betty Kemper (John), Fran Gabbard (Robert) and Janice Ingram (Jeff).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Tucker to the Brindle Ridge Volunteer Fire Department.
