He was predeceased by: his parents, Dale M. Phillips and Frances Nevalyn Herald Phillips; and his wife Aukje J. Phillips. He is survived by: his daughters, Dale Bybee of Bremen, Lyn Reeves of Madisonville and Deborah Phillips of Madisonville; and his sister Wilma J. Harlan of Bremen. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
