He was predeceased by: his parents, J. D. Cowles and Hallie Marie Watt Cowles; his son Marvin D Cowles, Jr.; and his siblings, Gary Cowles and Joann Tabor.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Cowles; his children, Brad Cowles (Toni), Tracy Mitchell (Jim) and Shauna Borowski; his grandchildren, Hallie Cowles (Corey), Dalton Wilson (Faith), Robby Rounds (Kasey), Bryan Bratcher, Laynie Mitchell and Katelyn Borowski (Jayden); his great grandchildren, Lyla and Jayce Rounds; his sisters, Leona Poston, Geraldine Kester and Sue Marcum; and his sisters-in-law, Joyce Barrow (Don) and Deanna Harwood (Tim). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
