He was predeceased by: his siblings, Jerry Richards and Dottie Minton. He is survived by: his sons, Billy Richards of Bowling Green, Bobby Richards of Bowling Green and Bryan Richards (Leanne) of Smiths Grove; his grandchildren, Ashley Meredith (John), Jennifer Vincent (Kyle), Adam Richards (Stephanie), Josh Richards (Tensley), Lauren Richards and Luke Richards; and his siblings, Beuford Richards, Overt Richards, Jimmie Richards (Kathy), Tommie Richards (Lola) and Oneta Simpson (Jerry). He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
