He was predeceased by: his parents, Murrell Hughes and Mary Vick Hughes. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Sue Crowe Hughes; his children, Vicki Hughes Brooks (Phil) and Carroll Lee Hughes Jr. (Pam); his brothers, Charles Hughes and David Hughes (Janet); his grandchildren, Mitchell Hughes (Amber), Kayla Clark Driver, Kelcy Clark Duvall (Chase) and Keaton Clark (Megan); and his great grandchildren, Gracie Hughes, Benton Hughes, Kadyn Duvall, Greysen Driver, Colter Clark, Leyton Duvall, Parker Wren Duvall and Merit Sue Clark.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Southern Kentucky or to Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
