He was predeceased by: his parents, Sammie Barriger Hays and Eunice Hays; his wife Frances Reynolds Hays; his daughter Janet Leigh Harrison; and his siblings, Nadine Burnett, Isabella Hunt, Virginia Davis, Mozell Hays, Stan Hays, E. J. Hays, Kent Hays and Clydel Hays.
He is survived by: his son-in-law William "Bill" Harrison of Boaz, Kentucky; his granddaughter Jessica Harrison; his great grandchildren, Job Harrison, Jude Harrison, Liam Gardner, Mila Gardner and Lincoln Gardner; and his sisters, Christine Deweese of Paducah and Joyce Turner of Cunningham. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
