He was predeceased by: his father John Lester; his wife Linda Avis Murphy; his grandson Forrest Fuller; his siblings, Robert "Bobby" Murphy, Thomas Edward "Tommy" Murphy and Nancy Festervan; and his son-in-law Kenny Murphy.
He is survived by: his children, Pam Edwards (Tom) of Bloomfield, Lori Boblitt (Gary) of Bloomfield and Skip Murphy of Fairfield; his sisters, Shirley Phillips of Bardstown, Lamonda Sue "Monnie" Spalding of Bardstown, Bettye Bell of Bardstown, Mary C. of Bardstown, Inman of Bardstown, Brenda Foster (Harold) of Bardstown and Mary Alice Brown of Bardstown; his grandchildren, Daniel Murphy, Nicole Sparks (Richard), Jessie Severns (Ryan), Ethan Murphy (Megan), Krista Murphy, Bret Hardin and Maddie Hardin; his great grandchildren, David Severns, Raeann Severns, Abi Severns, Lily Severns and Trenston Parris; and his pet Baby.
