He was predeceased by: his parents, George Vernon "Junior" and Georgetta Jordan Hays; and his son Joseph Vernon Hays. He is survived by: his son Charles Raymond Hays; his wife Mary Catherine Hamilton Hays; his daughters, Ila Jackson of Bardstown, Vanessa Hays-Boblett (Josh) of Louisville and Belonda Hays Bales (Eric) of Bardstown; his grandchild Chaqualin "C. J."; his great grandchildren, Avery and Thea Grace; and his siblings, Ila Lydian (Larry) of Bardstown, Barbara Grundy (Gary Harris) of Bardstown, Mayme Rice of Bardstown and George.
