She was predeceased by: her parents, William Pate and Ethel Irving Pate; her husband Ralph B. Childs; her sons, Ralph B. Childs Jr. and Kaynell Pate; and her grandson Steven Harden.
She is survived by: her children, Diane Gaddis of Detroit, Michigan, JoAnn Harden of Detroit, Michigan, Claudette Cross (Ronald) of Detroit, Michigan, Valencia Harden of Detroit, Michigan, Michelle Bradford of Detroit, Michigan, Virginia Pate of Bloomfield, Reginald Bryant of Starkville, Mississippi, Pam Livers of Bardstown and Lucretia "Peaches" Starnes of Bardstown; her sisters, Kitty Mae Dunn (Earnest) of Kenner, LA and Martha Pate of Detroit, Michigan; and her close friend Leo Stivers. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren, along with numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
