He was predeceased by: his parents, Estill Kirk and Connie Morgan Kirk; his daughter Nancy Kirk Schroader; his brothers, Arnold Kirk, Harold Kirk and Wilson Kirk; and his parents-in-law, Graham and Helen Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Beverly Smith Kirk; his daughters, Martha Gipson (Mike) of Philpot and Amy Shearn (Lyndon) of Lewisport; and his grandchildren, Erin Beth Hardy (Jake), Paul Shearn (Kami), Kirk Shearn (Ashley), Katie Shearn (Trenton Albet), Josh Gipson (Leah), Mary Helen Roe (Daniel) and Morgan Hall (Matt). He is also survived by ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his dearly loved sister-in-law.
