With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ruth Carolyn Prewitt Allen (Berea, Kentucky), who passed away on January 2, 2025 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lyle Prewitt and Bertha Payne Prewitt; and her brothers, Donald, Douglas and Harold Prewitt.
She is survived by: her children, Carol Merritt Courtney of Richmond, KY, Earl Merritt (Susan) of Berea, KY, Kenneth Merritt (Rebecca) of Richmond, KY and Kimberly Merritt Lakes (Kevin) of Berea, KY.; her siblings, Pauline DeVary of Winchester, KY, Faye Edington of Frankfort, KY, Bob Prewitt of Richmond, KY and Dorothy Smith of Berea, KY.; and her grandchildren, Eric Courtney (Kamryn), Tori Terry, Ashley Sharp (Michael), Courtney Mize (Brian), Kelsey Merritt, Joshua Merritt (Kriston), Jeremiah Merritt, Christopher Lamb (Nikki), Kennedy Lamb and Ryker Lamb.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 12:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home (616 Chestnut St, Berea, KY 40403).
