He is survived by: his wife Sonja Merritt; his children, Carol Courtney, Earl Merritt (Susan), Kenneth Merritt (Rebecca) and Chad Merritt (Krysta); his siblings, Jerry Merritt (Ruby) and Carolyn Chasteen (Wayne); and his close friend Norris Slaton. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
