He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Burt and Jessie Deaton Brattin; and his brother Earnest Brattin. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Smith Brattin of Berea; his daughter Rhonda Wells (Greg) of Richmond; his grandchildren, Brittany Bell (John) and D. Tyler Wells; his great grandchildren, Jake Bell, Madilyn Bell, Savannah Bell and Hunter Bell; and his sisters, Anita Rasner of Booneville and Brenda Cardinali of Richmond. He is also survived by twelve nieces & nephews.
