He was predeceased by: his parents, David Levi McFarland Sr. and Dorothy Boggus McFarland; his siblings, Mary Martin and Timothy McFarland; his nephews, David Martin Jr. and Max Taulbee; and his mothers-in-law, Phyllis Taulbee Stevens and Ina Taulbee.

He is survived by: his wife Sandy Taulbee McFarland; his children, Levi (Carla), Hannah Wheat (James), Isaac (Brooks) and Samuel; his grandchildren, Jude Poynter, Ivor Wheat, Mack Wheat and Boone Wheat; his sisters, Martha James (Brett) and Becky Dixon (Steve); his father-in-law Jim Taulbee; his brothers-in-law, James Taulbee (Lynette) and Tom Taulbee (Robin); his cousin Tina McFarland; his close friend Randy Dinsmore; and his friend Don Lamb. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
