He was predeceased by: his parents, Earnest Casteel and Daisy Turner Casteel; his wife Virginia Sparks Casteel; his siblings, George Casteel, Reo Casteel, Kenneth Casteel, Nellie Hayes and Dorothy Combs; and his close friend Ralph Marcum.
He is survived by: his children, Clifford Joel Casteel (Cheryl) and Tonya G. Smith (David); his grandchildren, Jonathan Travis Casteel and Brittany Nicole Moody; his great grandchild Kayce; and his close friends, Joe Anglin, Colin Powell, Jerry Mullins, Boyd Ingram and Henry Carpenter (Peggy).
