He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Thies and Eudean Lowe Thies; and his children, Mabry Sue Henson and Wade Alan Thies. He is survived by: his wife Gloria Taylor Thies; his siblings, Carolyn Reisenberger (David) of Springfield, IL, Larry Thies (Marthenia) of St. George, SC, Terry Thies (Lynn) of Fairview Heights, IL and Richard Thies (Sue) of San Antonio, TX; his grandchildren, Jasmine Arnold (Bill) of Benton, KY, Jolene Biorn (Cody) of Alamogordo, AFB, Gabe Helvey (Christy) of Pinckneyville, IL, Elizabeth Thies of Chattanooga, TN and Matthew Thies (Abby) of Benton, KY; and his great grandchildren, Lilly Arnold, Evan Biorn, Thaddeus Thies, Connor, Carter, Cole Helvey and Bella Thies. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
