He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Newby and Pearl Newby (Alexander); and his siblings, Bobby Newby, Pauline Watkins and Wanda Teague.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Hackney; his son Kevin; his daughter-in-law Belinda Newby of Madison, Indiana; his sisters, Lucille McManis of Campbellsburg and Judy Bishop of Carrollton, Kentucky; and his granddaughters, Mackenzie and Alexandria Newby of Madison.
