He was predeceased by: his wife Ella Jean Adams McDowell; his children, Delora Jean Callis, Joy Decker, James Edward Callis and Gary Leon Callis; and his siblings, Rosetta McDowell, Lacy McCane, Shelby McCane and Alonzo McDowell.
He is survived by: his children, Janet Fisher of Bedford, KY, Larry Callis (Kim) of Frankfort, KY and Terry McDowell of Madison, IN; his siblings, Chester McDowell (Brenda) of Bedford, KY, Robert McDowell of Cynthiana, KY and Dollie McCane (Harvey) of Bedford, KY; and his son-in-law Robert Decker of Carrollton, KY. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren.
