He was predeceased by: his parents, Delmer Louis "Herb" and Mary Jo Wright (Staples); his brother-in-law Richard D. Webster; and his father-in-law James Black. He is survived by: his wife Allie Black; his daughters, Rebecca Royce (Jamie) of Madison and Amanda Wright of LaGrange, Kentucky; his sisters, Joan Jeffries (Ranny) of Bedford and Carole Jennings (Dale) of Pendleton, Kentucky; and his mother-in-law Eunice Black of Bedford. He is also survived by six grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
