He was predeceased by: his parents, Gusta Howard and Martha Howard; his former wife Janet O'Banion Howard; his son Jeffrey O. Howard; and his siblings, Thelma Simpson, Rachel Chapman, Norma Poe, Helen Howard, Sylvia Perkins, Hazel Simpson, Eula Mae, Herschel Howard, Floyd Howard, William "Pat" Howard and Horace Howard.

He is survived by: his wife Lucille Howard; his children, Greg Howard (Ramona), Rick Howard and Melanie Cooper (Jimmie); and his grandchildren, Neesa Richardson, Alexa Morrison, Nathan Howard, Samuel Howard, Livia Seder, Kenyth Cooper, Jaden Cooper, AliyaCooper, Amanda Fox and Bradley Ginn. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
