He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Keown and Edna Wilson Keown; his sons, Samuel Keown, Jr. and Danny Joe Keown; and his siblings, Bill Keown, Lorene Burden, Mable Robinson and Anna-Mary Kenwright.
He is survived by: his children, James E. Lowery of Evansville, Tom Smith (Karen) of Evansville, Patty Calvert (Kenny) of Evansville and Tresea Cousert (John) of Evansville; and his siblings, Johnny Keown (Becky), Jeff Keown of Owensboro, Kenny Kessinger (Paula) of Florida, Jerry Kessinger (Janie) of Owensboro, Tommy Kessinger (Jenny) of Owensboro, Brenda Stump of Florida, Dorothy Sue Brown of Louisiana, Theresa Mudd of Owensboro and Sue Jarvis of Beaver Dam. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
