He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Carter and Juanita Paris Carter. He is survived by: his sister Patricia Carter Rose of Marion, NC.; his wife Rebecca Sue Carter (Carter); his children, Jason Carter and Donna Carter Warner; his son-in-law Richard Warner, Jr.; his stepgrandchildren, Brittani Haney (Rich) and R. W. Warner; and his stepgreat-grandchild Glora Haney.
