He was predeceased by: his father James Alverna Bard; and his wife Esther Finn Bard. He is survived by: his children, Benzell E. Bard, Jr. of Owensboro, Elder James Andre Bard (Sonja) of Woodbury, Dana Bard (Danette Allen) of Glasgow and Donna Stone (Steven) of Henderson; his grandchildren, Marcus, Dante, Lathan, Desmond Bard, Eboni and Cierra Nash; his great grandchildren, Zamya, Zayden Canter, Leo, Ezekiel and Issaiah Bard; and his sister Mary Harriford of Flint, Michigan.
