He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Sue Davis; his parents, Verner Edward Davis and Effie Stewart Davis; and his siblings, Ola Davis, Anna Lee Abner, Clara McNay, Naomi Whitaker, Winna Jean Pyle and Eunice Bates.

He is survived by: his son Howard Edward Davis (Rebecca Jane); his grandchildren, Trenton Ryan Davis and Whitney Paige Davis Calabressi (Andres); and his great grandchildren, Lucas Enzo Calabressi and Mia Patricia Calabressi.
