He was predeceased by: his mother Sudie Marie Mays (Puckett); and his siblings, Scotty Mays and Bonnie Sue Mays Wilder. He is survived by: his father Charlie Green Mays, Jr.; his children, Buddy Lee Mays (Hope) of Beattyville, KY, Nathan Rae Mays (Sarah) of Beattyville, KY and Heather Benton (Brett) of Irvine, KY; his brother Randal Mays of Loveland; and his grandchildren, Brooklyn Mays, Lucas Mays, Dylan Mays, Carter Mays, Audrey Mays, Treyton Riddel and Talyn Riddel. He is also survived by other loving family members and friends.
