He was predeceased by: his parents, Hayward Scott and Elise Wilford Scott; and his brother Michael Scott. He is survived by: his wife Linda Estep Scott; his son Eric McCarty (Chasity); his grandchildren, Derek McCarty and Kellie McCarty; his children, Madelyn and Conor McCarty; and his brothers, Craig Scott (Kathy) and Hayward "Sonny".
