With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Elizabeth (Lisa) Welch (Baxter, Kentucky), born in Harlan, Kentucky, who passed away on January 21, 2024. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Ina Bates and Sam Bates; and her brother Jack Bates. She is survived by: her husband Jay Welch; her siblings, Jim Bates (Reva) of Greenwood Indiana and Shirlee Bates; her sister-in-law Alice Maddox (Jim); her mother-in-law Jenna Welch; her nieces and nephews, Bill Bates (Kim), Landry Bates (Rachelle), Sherri Bates Miller (Ken), Bert Maddox, Blake Maddox and Meridith Maddox Gibbs (Breck); and her friend Norma Ruble.

In honor of Lisa, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Lexington Humane Society, 1600 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY 40504.
