Wendall Holmes Mason Sr. Obituary

A Nazareth Village resident, Mr. Wendall Holmes "Windy" Mason, Sr. age 86, passed away Monday, July 29, 2024 at Norton Womens and Children's Hospital in Louisville. He was born April 5, 1938 in Adiron, Michigan to the late Elmer and Blanche Maines Mason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Wendall P. Mason, and a brother, Lee Mason.

Windy was a retired employee of Reynold's Metals, a former employee of Wal-Mart, an apartment manager for Dixie Downs Apartments in Louisville, an Army Veteran, and was most proud of being a 44 year member of the 12 step program with AA helping guide others through recovery.

He is survived by four sons, Wendell Mason Jr. of Otisko, Indiana, KJ Mason of Louisville, Curtis Mason of Eden, Ohio, and Mark Mason of Montpelier, Ohio; six daughters, Cindy Farmer, Robin Priddie of Charlestown, Indiana, Deborah Sabby of Minnesota, Belinda Bowling of Michigan, RaheAnne Lucas of Louisville, and Aleta Smith of Minnesota. Three sisters also survive, Margaret Nunn of Shepherdsville, Myrla Nunnely of Toledo, Ohio, and Diana Mason of Ridgefield, Washington; one brother Randy Mason of Shelbyville; 25 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and his caregiver and close friend Effie Winningham also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Wendall Holmes "Windy" Mason, Sr. will be Friday August 2, 2024 at 11:00am at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday August 1, 2024. The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home at 1475 New Shepherdsville Road in Bardstown is in charge of arrangements.
