It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Virginia Ballard of Bardstown, Kentucky, born in Loretto, Kentucky, who passed away on January 18, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid Virginia farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Virginia is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Ballard and Lida Smith Ballard; and her siblings, Wallace Ballard, Tillie Beaven, Sue Ritchie, Happy Ballard and Ellen Napier.
She is survived by: her siblings, Ruby Badgett of Canton Georgia, Howard Ballard of Bardstown and Judy Platt (Ron) of Jeffersonville, IN; and her brother-in-law Moise Napier of Mount Washington. She is also survived by 31 nieces and nephews, 65 great nieces and nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mattingly Funeral Home (195 Holy Cross Rd, Loretto, KY 40037). A prayer will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Cross Catholic Church (59 New Haven Rd, Loretto, KY 40037).
