He was predeceased by: his wife Carol Jean Herron Simpson; his grandson John Kyle Hutchins; his parents, Marchel Simpson and Gladys Simpson; his siblings, Connie Werner, Shirley Simpson Davis, Ronnie Simpson, Marshall Irvin "Marty" Simpson and Kenny Simpson; and his niece Cheryl Simpson Lyvers.
He is survived by: his children, Cindy Hutchins (John) of Bardstown, Terri Adams (Pat) of Bardstown, Melinda "Peanut" Monin (Kerry) of Bardstown, Sonya Boone (Stephen) of Bardstown and Robert "Robbie" Simpson (Shelley) of Fairview, Texas; his sister Peggy Wathen (Joey); and his sisters-in-law, Deanna "Kiki" Simpson Sharpe and Bonnie Simpson. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.
