He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Carolyn "Carol" Gilpin; his parents, George Gilpin and Virginia Gilpin; and his sisters, Rachel Hagen and Rose Woodard.
He is survived by: his daughter Renee Newton (Mark); his stepsons, Sam Gilpin Jr. (Tonya), John Gilpin (Jennifer) and Doug Gilpin; and his siblings, Ginger Franklin, Nona Cundiff, Sam Gilpin and Tommy Russell. He is also survived by six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 28th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Barlow Funeral Home (2675 E John Rowan Blvd, Bardstown, KY 40004). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
