He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Susan; his children, Rachel Umlas (Marc), Rohan Pointer and Sarah Hopen (Sean); and his grandchildren, Olivia, Jordan, Uma, Nathaniel, Elliot, Hannah, Max, Minerva and Julien.
No flowers by request of family. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest in Clermont, Kentucky.
