He was predeceased by: his father G. W. Adams; and his sister-in-law Laurie Snellen. He is survived by: his wife Ellen Adams; his daughters, Sarah Gabehart (Aaron) of Bardstown and Jill McHugh (Bryan) of Lexington; his grandchildren, Addie Gabehart and Drew Gabehart; his mother Kitty Adams of Bardstown; and his siblings, David Adams (Charlotte) of Springfield, Cissy Mather (Jim) of Bardstown and Donna Wilkerson (David) of Berea. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
