It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Margaret Elizabeth Sheckles McMakin of Bardstown, Kentucky, who passed away on August 9, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband William Brown McMakin; her stepfather William Cavanaugh Knott; her mother Dorothy Sheckles Knott; her brothers, William "Kenny" Knott and Ronald "Ronnie" Knott; and her brother-in-law Ervin Neely.
She is survived by: her children, Councilman Bill Sheckles (Linda) of Bardstown, Joseph Sheckles (Shonna) of Bardstown, Mark Sheckles (Lisa) of Bardstown, James McMakin (Debbie) of Louisville and Elizabeth "Cee Cee" Sheckles of Bardstown; and her siblings, John "Red" Reed, Jr. (Laura Ann) of Bardstown and Violet Ann Neely of Louisville. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
