He is survived by: his wife Barbara "Kitty" Borders Greenwell; his children, Marcia Greenwell Hines (Craig) of Ochlocknee, Georgia and Leo Greenwell, Jr. (Dana) of Bardstown; and his grandchildren, William Hines of Panama City, Panama and Jennifer Hines Steele (Rex).
