He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Chester Simms, Sr. and Leona Ballard Simms; and his siblings, Louise Edelen, Francis Wayne Simms and Thomas Sidney Simms.
He is survived by: his brother Louis; his wife Nora Wheeler Simms; his children, Charles C. Simms, III (Concy) of Bardstown and Nancy Simms Rose (Hagan) of Brentwood, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Elinor E. Simms, John Simms and Nelson Rose; and his sisters, Evelyn Edelen (Joe) of Naples, Sister Grace Simms, Gerri Keysor (Bob Figeira) of Laguna Woods, Vernice Simms of Louisville, Betty Blair of Louisville, Rita Harrod (Tom) of Louisville, Jane Thompson of Columbia and Margaret O'Bryan.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to Bethlehem High School, St. Thomas Church or Transylvania University.
