He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Russell and Mary Helen "Lanie" Hutchins Greenwell; his siblings, Collins Greenwell, Marvin Greenwell, Donnie Greenwell, Lorene Bartley, Helen Downs, Valinda Pettit, Sister Dolores Greenwell and Esther Greenwell; and his son-in-law Carl Durbin.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Hall Greenwell; his children, Bobby Greenwell (Denise) of Bardstown, Genna VanMeter (Greg) of Elizabethtown, Lisa Bodine (Mike) of Bardstown, Patsy Newberry (Randy) of Hodgenville, Alvee Greg Greenwell (Nicole) of Loretto, Amy Durbin (Walt Catlett) of Cox's Creek and John Greenwell (Natalie) of Louisville; his sisters, Lavon Cecil of Howardstown and Ann Hall of New Haven; and his grandchildren, Sarah Evans (Travis), Chandler Greenwell, Bethany Parnell (Bryant), Kayla Drake (TC), Holly Bodine (Patrick), Chance Bodine (Taylor), Cara Hamilton (Brady), Drew Newberry (Brittany), Audrey Greenwell (Zach), Gregory Greenwell, Emily Durbin, Evan Durbin, Molly Greenwell and Piper Greenwell. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 24th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, March 25th 2025 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. A prayer was held on Monday, March 24th 2025 at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, March 25th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Thomas Catholic Church (870 St Thomas Ln, Bardstown, KY 40004).
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the St. Thomas Catholic Church.
