He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Astor Kermit Akers and Martha Darnell Gray Akers of Bloomfield, KY; his wife Linda Bowman Akers of Bardstown; and his sons, Alan (Meaghan) of Chicago and Brandon of St. Louis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association and to the Nelson County Humane Society.
