He is survived by: his wife Penny Gambill Hammons of Barbourville; his children, Matthew Hammons of Barbourville, Michael Hammons (Alex Engle) of Barbourville, James Gambill (Natasha) of McCreary County, Amber Strunk (John) of McCreary County, Karl Smith (Jennifer) of Hilliard, OH and Kyle Smith of Sidney, OH; his siblings, Nora Baker of Barbourville, Ann Bryant (Avery) of Barbourville, Mary Patterson (Clyde) of Bell County, Gail Hinkle of Hinkle, Charlie Hammons (Theresa) of Naples, FL and Benny Hammons Jr. of Barbourville; and his grandchildren, Nate, Brayden Hammons, Alexis Wildermuth, Megan, Abbygale Tucker and Preston Strunk.
