He was predeceased by: his parents, Parker Carnes and Laura Belle Taylor Carnes; his siblings, Lena Peters (Leon), Mae Payne (Daw), Martin, Rev. Jimmy and Hubert Carnes; his brother-in-law Clarence Hill; and his son-in-law Harold Broughton.
He is survived by: his wife Alice Carnes of Barbourville; his daughters, Sheila Broughton of Barbourville and Kathy Carnes; his siblings, Pearlie Hill of Barbourville and Otto Carnes of Manchester; his grandchildren, Jonathan Broughton (Tracy), Cody Patrick (Asia) and Jazzmyne Gabbard (Austin); and his great grandchildren, Elin Broughton, Nora Broughton, Rhett Gabbard and Arielle Gabbard. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of the Knox Funeral Home (325 Knox St, Barbourville, KY 40906).
