He was predeceased by: his parents, Evan Roscoe and Gracie Mae Shepherd (Overbay); his wife Arlene Shepherd (Burnett); and his siblings, Hayward, Willie, Richard, Evan, Jr., Clifford and Anna Lee (Bo).

He is survived by: his siblings, Don W. Shepherd (Janice) of Bimble, John Shepherd (Nancy) of Barbourville, Kenneth Shepherd of Clinton and Imogene Huling of Barbourville.
