It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Phillip Martin of Barbourville, Kentucky, born in Sassafras, Kentucky, who passed away on August 23, 2021, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, George Martin and Mae Cornett Martin; his former wife Helen Mills Martin; and his sister Gwen Bailey. He is survived by: his wife Leigh Powell Martin; his children, George Phillip, Jr. (Bridgett Martin), Dr. Jeanne Martin (Rupert Sherratt) and John Sheridan (Robyn Martin); his grandchildren, Nicholas Martin, Caitlyn Martin, Peter Martin (Jana) and Madeleine Sherratt; his siblings, Sam Martin and Margaret Ann Martin; his mother-in-law Patricia Powell; and his brother Walter Powell, III (Jennifer). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
