He was predeceased by: his parents, William Forrest "Bill" and Rebecca "Beck" Baker Smith; his sister Helen Smith; and his grandsons, Terry Joseph Wathen and Jeffrey Chad Wathen.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Terry Wathen (Patsy) of Lebanon and Sissy Coppage (Glen) of Danville; his grandsons, Jamie Coppage (April) of Danville and Troy Wathen (Trish) of Lebanon; his great grandchildren, Morgan Coppage, Logan Coppage, Jeff Wathen and Mason Wathen; and his caregivers, Bryan Franklin, Barbara Franklin and Sabrina Ritter.
