He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin, Sr. Derfler and Marie Derfler; and his son Jason D. Derfler. He is survived by: his son Lee E. Derfler of Wendell, NC; his grandchildren, Lee E. Derfler, Jr., Nadia, Mason, Kayce Derfler, Alexis, Jackson Derfler, Amerie McInnis, Hannah and Hunter Cheney; his sister Mary Lou; his siblings-in-law, Jerry Owens and Barbara Sims; his niece Lisa Williams (Jim); his nephew Daniel Cattani (Meredith); and his great-nieces, Alina, Jean Williams and Leah Cattani.
