He is survived by: his children, Jonathan Scott Cook (Pam) of Stanford, Michael Dallas Cook (Tara) of Jackhorn, Michiyo, Melissa Lee Cook Meikirk (Joseph) of Nancy and Michelle Allene Cook McDowell (David) of Walterboro, SC.; his siblings, Lawrence Emory, Lois Jean Wallace of Dearborn, MI, Shirley Sue Morris of Newport News and Mary Frances Bartley of Jackson Branch; his grandchildren, Rebecca Faith McMiel, Rachel LaCotha Cook Atkeson, Buford Chadwick McDowell, Rachel Racine McDowell Riley, Jonathan Aaron Scott Cook, Jessica LouannMcDowell Hunt and James Kendall McDowell; and his great grandchildren, Claire Elaine Atkeson, Lee Scott Cook and Reed Andrew Atkeson.
