He was predeceased by: his parents, Ott Lawson and Dorothy Abner Lawson; his wife Dianne Middleton; and his siblings, Betty June Taylor, Charlie, Jerry and Larry Lawson.
He is survived by: his children, Lynn Wagner (J. D.), Kim Carnes (Jamie), Sheila K. Lawson (Morris Barnes), Troy Lawson (Denise Carpenter) and Lisa Price; his grandchildren, Heather Wilson (Ken), J. J. Wagner (Stephanie), Jax Wagner, Tabitha Bundy, Jimmy Carnes (Kayla), Brandon Carnes, Samuel Dustin Lawson (Lindsy), Dalton Lawson, Matthew Lawson (Denise), Cody Lawson (Emma Weaver), Cody Price and Corey Price; and his siblings, Donnie Lawson (Annette), Wilma Hickman, Shirley Osborne, Shanna Elisigan, Pauletta Harris, Phyllis Little and Brenda Honeycutt. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
