In loving memory of James A. Miles Sr. of Artemus, Kentucky, born in Harlan, Kentucky, who departed this world on October 29, 2024 at the age of 84. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wesley Miles and Martha Orick Miles Murphy; his stepfather John Murphy; his siblings, Harold Dean Miles, Randall Murphy (H. M. Mills), Lee Gilbert Murphy (Pat) and Ora Mae Howard White (Ken); his brother-in-law David B Howard; his nephew David Howard; and his niece Angela Murphy.
He is survived by: his close friend Jim (Laura) of Flat Lick; his granddaughter Sarah-James (Garrett); his great grandchild Laurel Thomas of Nicholasville; his daughter Lisa Ann; his great grandchild Beau Jackson of Richmond; his daughter Heather (John) of Corbin; his grandson John Daniel "JD" McVey, IV (Meghan); his great grandchild Amelia Claire; his granddaughter MaryAlice Rose of Corbin; his sister Teresa Ann Carnes (Matthew) of Artemus; his nephews, Michael (Cindy) and Jeff (Alena) of Barbourville; his sister-in-law Reva Ann Murphy of Bimble; his nephew Brian Steven (Sheila) of Cincinnati Ohio; his niece Doris Miles; his great-nephew Andy Miles (Tiffany) of Lisle; his nieces and nephews, Johnny Miles of Reston, Virginia, Tanya Murphy Halcomb (Ralph) of Barbourville, Lorri Smith of Artemus, Vicki Hobbs (Clinton) of Barbourville and Danny Ray (Janice) of Artemus; his friend Freeda Ann Jackson; and his son Jim.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, on Sunday, November 3rd 2024 at 10:00 AM and at 2:00 PM at the Knox Funeral Home (325 Knox St, Barbourville, KY 40906). A masonic service was held on Sunday, November 3rd 2024 at 8:00 PM. In 2021, the Lord answered his prayer, and humbled him to the point of death with the Coronavirus.
In lieu of flowers, the Miles family requested, with gratitude, donations to East Barbourville Baptist Church Building Fund.
