He was predeceased by: his father Robert Elsey. He is survived by: his wife Sherry Belcher Elsey; his children, Amy Lynn Flesher (Zack) of Hesperia, California and Thomas Benjamin Elsey, Jr. (Melissa Cherie) of Weaubleau, Missouri; his mother Billie Tint Elsey of Sturgis, Kentucky; his brothers, Tim Elsey (Leigh) of Sturgis, Darrin Elsey (Jane) of Riverside and Jeff Elsey of Lake Havasu, Arizona; and his grandchildren, Althea Flesher, Ben Davis, Chasity Davis, Samara Ruddle, Lily Elsey and Lorelai Elsey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
