He was predeceased by: his father Ed Ray; his wife Mary Jessalean Priest; his son Bobby Ray Junior; and his siblings, Bill Ray, Blaine Ray, Ed "Man" Ray Jr., Felix Ray, Bud Ray, Merl Ray, Joe Ray and Glady Ray Love.

He is survived by: his children, Brady Ray of Columbus, KY and Theresa Rhodes of Arlington, KY; and his brother Charlie Ray of Columbus, KY. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
