He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Kent Rowland and Mary Elizabeth Kouns. He is survived by: his siblings, Harold Eugene Rowland, Allie Marie Covert, Olive Lewis and Flo Shaw; his close friend Helen Meadows of Argillite; his children, Donald K. Rowland of Lucasville, Charles W. Rowland of South Shore, Deward G. Rowland, Cincinnati, Della E. Runyon of Portsmouth and Connie M. Rudd of Lucasville; and his sister Elma Stephenson of Portsmouth. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
